Racing, Resilience, and Giving Back: Caitlyn Vogel’s Inspiring Motorsports Journey
The motorsports community is known for speed, competition, and adrenaline—but it’s also filled with incredible stories of perseverance, family, and generosity.
On this episode of the Women’s Motorsports Network Podcast, host Melinda Russell welcomed Caitlyn Vogel, a racing mom whose passion for motorsports goes far beyond the racetrack.
A Racing Family Through Four Generations
Caitlyn lives in Meyersdale, Pennsylvania, and racing runs deep in her family. Her daughters, Lizzie and Gracelyn, are fourth-generation racers competing in the NASCAR Youth Series quarter midget division.
From long race weekends to helping wrench on cars in the garage, Caitlyn and her husband work as a team to support their daughters’ racing dreams.
Racing has become more than just a hobby—it’s a family lifestyle.
Stepping Into the Spotlight at Motorama
Caitlyn recently participated in the Motorama Motorsports Pageant, an event that combines motorsports culture with competition and community.
The pageant includes:
· Private interviews
· Sportswear competition
· Swimwear competition
· Fan voting
· Charity fundraising
Although stepping onto a stage in front of a huge crowd was intimidating, Caitlyn embraced the challenge.
Her courage paid off.
She earned both the Celebrity Choice Award and the Philanthropy Award, helping raise over $7,000 for an autism school playground project.
A Mission Inspired by Her Daughter
Caitlyn’s motivation for stepping into pageants wasn’t fame or recognition.
It was her daughter Lizzie.
Lizzie was born with a cleft lip and palate and has undergone numerous surgeries. Inspired by the support their racing community gave them during difficult times, Lizzie created a program called Lizzie’s Snuggles for Clefts.
Through this initiative, the family sends care packages to children facing cleft surgeries that include items like:
· blankets
· books
· stuffed animals
· comfort items for hospital stays
The packages help families feel supported during what can be a very emotional time.
Helping the Next Generation of Racers
Caitlyn’s passion for youth racing has also led her to create a new initiative called Fearless and Fuel.
This upcoming program will:
· sponsor youth racers
· provide mentorship
· teach life skills
· promote confidence and sportsmanship
Each year, Caitlyn hopes to sponsor one girl and one boy in racing, helping reduce the financial barriers many young drivers face.
Racing Builds More Than Drivers
As Caitlyn shared during the podcast, motorsports teaches young racers more than how to drive.
It teaches them:
· responsibility
· perseverance
· teamwork
· financial awareness
· confidence
For Caitlyn and her daughters, racing is about building character as much as competition.
A Story That Inspires
The Vogel family’s journey is proof that racing is about far more than lap times.
It’s about courage, community, and giving back.
And thanks to people like Caitlyn and Lizzie, the motorsports world continues to grow stronger—one young racer at a time.
